Marie’s April Musings

We all heaved a sigh of relief at the beginning of March when the incessant rain gave way to some mild days.  No longer waking to pouring rain and going to bed at night with pouring rain.  It was as if a cheer went up to see the sun in the sky and to see the sunset and the moon bright in the clear sky, Spring flowers starting to bloom and Spring on its way.

Did you know we eat an estimated 90 million packet of crisps a week in the UK.  In the Walkers Crisp Factory in Leicester, more than 11 million packets of crisps are produced from more than 700 tons of potatoes every day.  When the potatoes are processed, an optical sorter fishes out any dodgy potatoes or foreign objects.  It once found an old grenade that had been dug up with the spuds.  Walkers won’t reveal the secret of how it slices each spud into 50 pieces in milliseconds.

We received a gardening magazine from Oakham and Woodlands, Hinckley. Inside was a virtual border illustration showing how most of the plants would look in bloom. It was beautiful but unbelievable and not possible as the plants shown flowered between Spring and Autumn, so you would never see them flowering at the same time.  A sign of the times when you cannot be sure what is real and what is not.

Felt a bit worried this morning, for I woke with no worries at all.                         So I’ve spent all the day quietly worrying what it is that I cannot recall.

This is true.  As my mother used to say, “Don’t worry worry, till worry worries you.”
