Memorial Service

Last Sunday in January 10.30 a.m. a special service for those who have lost loved ones. The names of loved ones will be read out and here is the chance to light a candle as well have time to reflect.

Candlemas

On a Sunday near 2nd February, we celebrate the feast of Candlemas to celebrate the Light of the World. This service is held at St John’s at 10.30 a.m.

World Day of Prayer

Held each year on the first Friday in March at 10.30 a.m. and lasts about an hour followed by refreshments, often reflecting the food of the chosen country.

This special service is drawn up by the chosen country. It has a theme and gives information about the nation and people.

The 2024 service will be held at St John’s Church Hall.

The chosen country is Palestine  “I beg you bear with one another in love”.

Ash Wednesday

A joint benefice service of Holy Communion is held at one of the churches in the benefice at 7.30 p.m.

Saturday before Mothering Sunday Open Church

The church will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for private prayer and contemplation, and on Sunday 12- 6 p.m. (Light refreshments available on Saturday). This is often a busy weekend for visitors to our churchyard as people remember their mothers especially this weekend.

Whilst visiting the grave of your loved one we would ask that you ensure that any headstone is secure after the harsh winter.

Maundy Thursday Service

A special meal and Communion service with hymns at St John’s at 7 p.m.

Good Friday Vigil

A special time of quiet contemplation and prayer. The church will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Ascension Day Service

A joint benefice service will be held at 7.30 p.m. at one of the churches in the benefice including the Methodists Chapel.

Flower Festival 2023 report

Art Exhibition 

Third Saturday in September 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ansley Village Church Hall. An exhibition and sale by Ansley Village Art Group.  The paintings and drawings are of a very high quality. Cards are also for sale.

St John’s Harvest Festival

Held on the 3rd Sunday in September, the church will decorated with flowers and produce for this service of Holy Communion at 10.30 a.m. The donations of food and cash will be given to the Salvation Army.

New Members Service

Last Sunday in September, a special service for those newly baptised or preparing for baptism designed especially for the young, often incorporating baptism. Everyone is welcome.

St Laurence Harvest Festival

Held on the 2nd Sunday in October, we celebrate the harvest by decorating the church and bringing gifts. The service is at 10.30 a.m.  The produce and a cash collection will be given to the Salvation Army.

Remembrance Day

The 10.30 a.m. Service starts in church. we remember the fallen and those who suffer as a result of war. We observe the Two Minutes Silence and after the main service we process to the War Memorial for the laying of the wreaths.

Christmas Tree Festival

60 Christmas Trees Around the church for the three weekends before Christmas  Application from and Report of the 2023 festival.

Christingle Service

A special service on the 2nd Sunday in December for all ages especially the young. Christingles are distributed and lit in the midst of the Christmas Trees around the Church

Christmas Services

Traditional Nine Lessons and Carols Service 6.30 p.m. at St Laurence on last Sunday before Christmas and the close of the tree festival.

Christmas Eve Holy Communion 9 p.m. at St John’s

Christmas Day Holy Communion 10.30 a.m. at St Laurence
