Each year, the Church’s liturgy brings us back to the key moments of Jesus’ life, inviting us to take part in them. Easter is the celebration of His greatest victory—His triumph over death. It stands at the centre of history and is the high point of the Church’s year.
The Resurrection is the most glorious moment in Jesus’ earthly life and the clearest proof He is God. Easter marks the day He passed from death to life, completing the bridge between heaven and earth. Jesus became human, suffered, and died so that we could be reunited with God. His victory over death isn’t just something we remember—it’s a power that continues to work in our lives, especially when we remain in His grace.
Eastertide is a time of renewal. The forty days between Jesus’ Resurrection and Ascension were spent strengthening His Church. That’s why, during this season, the readings in church services focus on the Acts of the Apostles—showing how Jesus prepared them to be the pillars of the faith.
It should remind us of our own Baptism and Confirmation, calling us to renew our commitment to Christ. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). Easter is an opportunity to open our hearts to His grace and the Holy Spirit, giving us strength to remain faithful.
Eastertime is a glimpse of heaven, a time of joy and victory for Christ and all who follow Him. The Church, which wept during Lent, is now joyful —because Christ is risen! This joy is an insight to what Jesus promised, the eternal home He has prepared for us.
Easter is the foundation of our faith and the renewal of our relationship with God. Jesus is alive, present among us and faithful to His promise. He wants to meet us in our daily lives, to make His home in our hearts and to send us out to share His presence with others.
So let us rejoice—Easter is here, and darkness will never win. Alleluia!
