Easter Day

Hallelujah Christ is Risen – He is Risen Indeed

To celebrate this important day in the Church’s calendar we hold Holy Communion at 10.30 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m. Evensong at St Laurence.

From Easter Day to the day before Trinity Sunday the ecclesiastical colour is white or gold.

White is the colour of purity and perfection and is used to celebrate the defeat of darkness and the triumph of light.

Gold is solid, strong and valuable.

In the grimness and uncertainty of these present days goodness and light take the most severe battering but the story of Easter reminds us that they can never be defeated.
