Ash Wednesday

This day marks the commencement of Lent. A time of penitence.

It is known as the Day of Ashes – a day of repentance, when Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God. During a Communion, the vicar places the ashes on a worshiper’s forehead in the shape of a cross.
This service is held at a different church within the Benefice each year. Please see Calendar for details.
