Many of you will be aware of the water that has been collecting at the Church Hall entrance since the Chicane has been in place. From the very beginning back in July 2022 we have been contacting the County Council asking them to address this issue. After investigations they decided to drain the water to the other side of the road.
The work originally planned for February was delayed until 22nd March with the road being closed over parts of 3 days. It had been expected that the new drain would address the issue.
However, after the rain on 31st March the situation was a bad as ever. A photograph taken that day has been sent to the Team Leader of the Minor Works Team County Highways, with the request that the matter to be sorted urgently. It was pointed out that there is a greater risk of accidents by people having to walk in the road than there was ever before the chicane was put in place.
The Church Council can only apologise to the hall users for the difficulty in accessing the entrance to the Church Hall, unfortunately it is a matter that is beyond our control, but please rest assured we will keep chasing to get this unsatisfactory situation sorted once and for all.
