Christmas Tree Festival 2016

20 Dec 16

After three wonderful weekends, Ansley Churches Christmas Tree Festival ended on Sunday 18th with the traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols.

Following the weeks of preparation, it is good when the event is such a lovely success.

As with all such events that St. Laurence Church arranges, it is wonderful to welcome visitors to share it. It is most encouraging to hear their lovely comments and also to read the ones written in the visitor’s book, a few of which are listed below:-

 “Really wonderful displays.“

“Excellent.”

“Beautiful and creative ☺”

“Again, another year of heartfelt beauty.”

“Congratulations to you all, a wonderful display.”

“The trees are so pretty I would love to come next year.”

“Wonderful, different trees from so many people, organised, beautiful and cheerful.”

“Beautiful as usual. Thanks You.”

The true meaning of Christmas was brought out especially in the Nativity scene on the altar, and others around the church.

The festival has been a very a happy and enjoyable event throughout. We are so grateful to the many, many people, groups and organisations that this year participated in the event, giving of their time and talents to decorate “their” tree. Not forgetting the many who helped in the many other ways, e.g. providing refreshments and serving them. To those who helped clean and “set up” for the event, as well as clearing up at the end when all the trees are removed, a Big Thank you.

It is also pleasing to report that the event raised £2,637, of which £400 will be given to the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

A further £147 was raised for the Churchyard Fund from the stars on the “Remembrance Tree”

The 28th December was also a great time with everyone working together to clear everything out.

A BIG Thank you again to everyone who helped and supported this event.
